Prof.Dr. Mohamad Sanad Abu-Darwish is a professor of pharmaceutical sciences and serving as dean of University College -Al-Balqa Applied University, Jordan for over ten years.
In 2016, Prof.Abu-Darwish awarded the Distinguished Academic Award of the Arab Fund for Social and Economic development, Kuwait, to be a visiting professor at Institute of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Biology, Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) Germany to conduct research dealing with anticancer activity of some Jordanian medicinal plants.
In 2015/2016, Prof. Abu-Darwish awarded the Fulbright visiting scholarship as visiting professor in the National Center for Natural Products Research, School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, USA. Furthermore, Prof.Abu-Darwish awarded short visiting research stays awarded by the European Erasmus Mundus Program to conduct a research in University of Minho-Portugal and visiting research stay at the University of Geneva funded by Swiss Scientific National Fund (http://p3.snf.ch/person-677189-AbuDarwish-Mohammad-Sanad)
The research interests of Prof.Abu-Darwish are focusing on studying the chemical composition and several the biological activities of medicinal plants of Jordan flora including antimicrobial and cytotoxicity. Furthermore, Abu-Darwish is studying the environmental impact of medicinal plants for heavy metals phytoremediation and producing bio-agro products.
The scientific findings of Abu-Darwish have been published in reputable international journals, two books chapters and several international conferences; Leiden-Netherland 2007, Germany 2008, Russia 2009, Switzerland 2010, Italy 2012, Tunisia 2014, Lebanon 2015, USA 2016 (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Zavun9gAAAAJ&hl=en ).
Prof.Abu-Darwish is a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals and has memberships in national and international scientific organizations. Over the years, Prof.Abu-Darwish chaired and organized the 1st,2ed and 3rd international symposiums on “Medicinal Plants and Aspects of Uses “, which were been held in Jordan (2008-2012) with the participation of many researchers from the entire world http://3ismp.bau.edu.jo . In 2015, In collaboration with International Society for Ethnopharmacology (ISE, United Kingdom), Prof.Abu-Darwish chaired and organized the 15th congress of International Society of Ethnopharmacology, in Petra-Jordan http://15icse.bau.edu.jo .
